Here is what you need to know !

1.  Who is Truey Donatello ?
Truey Donatello, a musician born in Kwamashu and raised in Midrand, has returned and created another buzz within the local music industry.
2. What Is the latest from Truey Donatello?
In 2020, he first dropped his “Zaka fast freestyle” single with the accompanying music video reaching 6000 Twitter views and 11 000 youtube views. This amazing response has inspired his upcoming ‘Drillandinho’ mixtape release for 2020.
His second single, “Money Pain”, was also well received with the music video reaching 4000 twitter views and 7000 youtube views. A single teasing his EP, ‘Fukwe Road’, projected for a 2021 release.
3. Tell us the inspiration behind the latest music video?
Money Pain was inspired by the ideas of shaping your dreams and achieving your goals. These were the major themes but authenticity was the biggest inspiration and lead to a more simplistic approach visually and a stronger focus on his musical ability.
4. What is next from Truey and what are the plans for the rest of 2020?
The songwriter/musician has combined his art and his Kwa Mashu/Midrand background to deliver what he now coins the “Mzansi Drill” sound. A sound inspired by the popular UK drill sound that came back full circle to the US shores via the late Pop Smoke. This Mixtape is his focus and promises to be another musical experience.

In light of the announcement made by President Cyril Ramaphosa on the Government’s strict actions in addressing the COVID-19 outbreak, Africa’s biggest premium beer brand, Castle Lite, wishes to inform everyone that the 2020 Castle Lite Unlocks scheduled for the 12th of June 2020 at the TicketPro Dome in Johannesburg, South Africa has been postponed.

“We share the disappointment of our fans during this time of uncertainty, however, as a brand that cares for its consumers, we cannot ignore the growing concerns for health and safety as a result of the rapid spread of the COVID-19 in South Africa and around the world.  It is important to highlight that an event of this magnitude has multiple moving parts and for this reason, the brand is deliberating and will communicate further details around new date and tickets by the end of March 2020.” said Castle Lite Brand Director Silke Bucker.

We are currently in discussions with our headline act, Cardi B, and all other stakeholders. We would like to assure you that Castle Lite Unlocks will take place as soon as it is safe to host the coolest Hip-Hop event in South Africa. We acknowledge the disappointing news for the thousands of fans who were excited to attend and witness Castle Lite Unlocks Cardi B, however, the health of our consumers, media and internal teams is always a priority.

Additionally, our ticketing merchant, TicketPro would like to assure all patrons who have already purchased tickets to Castle Lite Unlocks that those tickets are still valid. However, the following procedures must be followed regarding ticket claims during this time:

  • Because Castle Lite Unlocks is merely postponed and not cancelled, consumers should hold on to their tickets until a new performance date has been announced. Consumers will then be able to exchange their tickets for the new performance date.
  • Should a consumer wish to no longer attend the experience, they will be able to obtain a full refund, details of which will be communicated once we have announced the new performance date.

Announcement Video

It is now a well-established fact that Castle Lite is the coolest brand around and if there was ever any doubt, the past 2 weeks have proven it. It is in the brand’s ice-cold DNA to be innovative in the way that it does things; to stay ahead of the game and keep doing the coolest stuff from any brand in Africa. And as Africa’s biggest premium beer brand, Castle Lite had to launch the 10th year edition of Castle Lite Unlocks in an epic way.

Two weeks ago, the brand set out an extraordinary digital campaign to announce Castle Lite Unlocks 2020, its unique Early Bird ticket system and of course, to reveal the 2020 international headliner – Cardi B. The brand did the unthinkable when it asked its consumers to purchase tickets to the 2020 Unlocks experience before anything had been revealed. All people knew was that tickets were going for a steal at the ice-shattering price of R50. But there had been no mention of the headliner or even what this years’ experience would be.

The brand left a trail of carefully selected “Easter Eggs” – a trail of clues on the headline act – with the intention of allowing any consumer that paid attention, to break the ice and discover that Cardi B was about to be Unlocked, if you knew where to look of course. This not only saw the #CastleLiteUnlocks hashtag trending and breaking the internet, but it also saw a few people being convinced that they knew who Castle Lite was Unlocking. All of these clues were hidden in plain sight, for anyone to discover who the headliner would be, almost like a virtual Easter Egg hunt.

Excitement mounted over the 2 Easter Eggs that were found and made it pretty obvious that Cardi B would be coming to Mzansi.  Tech-savvy consumers looked where no one else was looking and discovered that the words “Castle Lite Unlocks Cardi B” had been added to the Castle Lite website HTML code. What’s more, as speculations were growing online, the brand started telling Friends of Castle Lite who was being Unlocked and caught their reaction on camera. Loyal Cardi B fans were quick to spot the “Bacardi” license plate that was intentionally positioned in the background on Rouge’s video.

And although these 2 clues were found, what consumers did not know is that there were 16 other Easter Eggs that would’ve made the secret not so secret if anyone spotted them. On Monday, 17 February, the brand put out two announcement videos to educate the public on the return of Unlocks as well as the ticket sales. Lyrics from one of Cardi B’s songs as well as some visuals from one of her music videos were used in the initial launch video.

The brand followed this up with a video educating the public on how the Early Bird ticketing system would work. But what fans didn’t see, was that more visuals from Cardi B’s I Like It Like That music video were used, the word “Okurrr” appears in small text several times in the video, and herInvasion of Privacy album cover is displayed in the background.

On the same day, a statement was sent to media announcing the return of Unlocks for its 10th year edition and the sale of Early Bird tickets. On the media statement, Cardi B’s name was spelt down the side of the statement with each paragraph beginning with one letter from Cardi B’s name.

Castle Lite then sent out 50 press packages to media and celebrity friends of the brand. Each premium package contained one letter from the headliner’s name. As each recipient posted their package on social media with the clue in it, consumers needed only to piece the letters together and discover what the big secret was.

Reveal footage was shot with the likes of DJ Maphorisa, Ayanda MVP, Rouge and Youngsta CPT as they found out who was to be Unlocked. In each video, an Easter Egg was again hidden in plain sight and those who were paying close enough attention would’ve also seen the poster with Cardi B’s smile behind Ayanda MVP as she found out the big news; or, heard Youngsta CPT use the pronoun “she” after finding out who the headliner is.

If that didn’t give it away, the brand unfollowed everyone on its social media accounts except for all the past Castle Lite Unlocks headliners and Cardi B was among them. Finally, a female voice was used for the Unlocks 2020 radio ad for the first time in the history of Unlocks and the brand pulled a few strings to have Cardi B’s music on high rotations on some of the country’s popular radio stations.

What is now very clear is that consumers need to pay careful attention to every move that Castle Lite makes as more and more surprises are in store for this year’s Castle Lite Unlocks experience. Cardi B will headline the experience at the TicketPro Dome in Johannesburg, South Africa on 12 June 2020. Tickets are available at and range from R690.

IMG_670628-year-old aspiring actor and presenter, Siphesihle Sangweni has officially been crowned the Ultimate vibe king and walked away with R150 000 when he won season 2 of Ultimate House Vibe unlocked by Castle Lite last night.

Siphesihle, better known as Lamza on the show, beat out 11 other contestants including his top 2 counterpart, Isaaih Letsoalo, affectionately known as Bomba eCute when he rose to the top. Lamza’s victory was a landslide win as he scooped most of the judge’s and fan votes on social media.

He threw 2 vibes this season with his first one being on episode 3 against Noxolo where he took the Ultimate House Vibe viewers to his hometown of Finetown. His whole community came out to support him and help him put together a great vibe. And despite the drama with his guest of honour and his guests who missed the mark on the theme, he was lauded on the quality of his food, music and the general vibe with Khanyi Mbau saying: “your vibe was complete”.

He then went on to annihilate Bomba in episode 7 as they went head-to-head in a fierce top 2 battle to find out who the Ultimate vibe king really is.

Lamza threw an extra cold vibe for his guest of honour, Ntando Duma and received rave reviews from Ntando herself, the judges and viewers who skyrocketed his name to number 2 on the Twitter trends list.

The writing was on the wall for Bomba when his final vibe was less than disappointing for the judges while Lamza’s vibe set the bar for all vibes to come.

But, Bomba didn’t leave the show empty handed, he received R20 000 in cash from Castle Lite, as well as a year’s supply of Africa’s biggest premium beer.

Castle Lite Marketing Manager, Marsha Kumire has congratulated Lamza on his win and called this season a resounding success. “As a brand, we are proud to have watched Siphesihle rise to the top and be crowned Ultimate Vibe King. His tenacity has shone through all season long and he is a deserving winner of the R150 000 cash prize,” she said.

“What’s more, we are certain that we have unlocked yet another star that will follow in the footsteps of Ultimate House Vibe season 1 winner, Don Dada. And that’s what we’re all about as a brand; not only do we own the most extraordinary experiences in the country, but we also give platforms to young hopefuls who have what it takes to succeed,” she continued.

Siphesihle Sangweni, aka Lamza is a 28-year-old business man and aspiring media personality from Finetown in the Vaal. He describes himself as a self-motivated person who is very confident and determined to win at life. He entered the show after a colleague begged him to enter because of the vibes he has hosted in Finetown.

“I was chosen because of my character. When you look at me and then look at the rest of the contestants, I am very different from them and I stand out. I am from the township and you can tell, even in the way I speak. I know my story and I am proud to be myself,” he says.

Lamza says that he knew from the moment he was cast on the show that this would be a life-changing journey for him. “Winning this show will change my life. I am the type of person who loves giving back to the community and I throw a lot of community benefit events to raise funds for township projects. Winning the R150 000 will help me contribute to this course and give back to the community which has supported me. I will also give back to vulnerable children such as orphans,” he continues.

What makes the Ultimate House Vibe for him is the dress code, music and the general vibe.

How to be the ultimate host this December and still save ching ching!

Image: Google Images

The Festive season is here and if you know me you will know that I like hosting, just like my family. It’s that time of the year where every day is a Saturday or a good old Sunday. So, I was just thinking about how I will get through this year’s hoho season knowing all the plans I have for 2019. New year, new me stuff hahaha! So, I had a conversation with colleagues of mine about how to survive the festive without breaking the bank and still rise to the challenge of being “the ultimate host”.

Thando is 27 and she is that colleague who never attends anything if it seems like it would be a bore. So, she had a good idea to share, OLX! Interesting, I know.
But it hit me and it all made sense, OLX is so easy to use to buy things to up your hosting game. I immediately logged into my profile and started searching. I was so amazed by the types and sizes of outdoor grills one could find on OLX. I saw what I wanted and I shared the link with my brother as the seller was in his area. The transaction was quick and easy now I own a 2x1m Gas Grill with a flat top on the sides. Perfect for hosting a larger number of people.

Tshepo also logged in looking for a wine chiller and a big blender. He is famous for his margaritas, perfect for this occasion and those pool parties. He located a lady selling Phillips ProBlender 5 blender 2.5KM from his house on OLX. He told me that his blender works magic and came with all the adjustments. Now OLX for me has become my number 1 only shop for all kinds of goods, I am even starting to collect Vintage goods for my place. 
